George Bernard Shaw said, "Democracy is a form of government that substitutes election by the incompetent many for appointment by the corrupt few." Yet the "many" aren't as incompetent or ill informed as in Shaw's day. Today we are far better educated and have access to a wide range of sources of information and opinions.
